Number of Fatal Injuries in the US mining industries in 2017, 2018 and 2019 can be seen in Figure 1. Now let us talk about global market value of coal industry. The mining industry plays a vital role in the global economy.
Feb 19, 2014 During mining processes, particulate matter is generated from explosive blasting, dragline operations, feeder breakers that crush coal, and wind erosion of coal
A downward trend in British coal-mining productivity was reversed between the world wars. Declining productivity before 1914 was accompanied by wide regional differences, especially at the coalface. Scotland attained the best overall. productivity, while coalface
The coal mining industry has to dispose of millions of litres of water every day. This water forms main source of various water supplies in the thickly populated coalfields. In this study, water samples from major coalfields were collected and analysed in an attempt to reflect the impact of mining on water quality in these areas. Various physico-chemical characteristics of mine waters as ...

Mining induced anthropogenic activities are well-known causes of contamination of ecological resources. The produced effluents have drastic effects by changing the physical, chemical, and biological properties of the concerned resources. The Central Indus Basin is a well-known coal regime, where more than 160 mines are active at present.
Oct 15, 2020 This paper examines economic impacts of coal mining across local government areas LGAs in Australia. Three main distinguishing features of this research are a the analysis through the mining boom and bust cycle, b a focus on small regional areas within one state in Australia and c the use of socio-economic indicators in addition to the standard income and employment indicators.

Long-term dewatering of groundwater is a necessary operation for mining safety in open-pit coal mines, as extensive dewatering might cause ecological problems due to dramatic changes in moisture movement in the soil, especially in ecologically fragile areas. In order to evaluate the impact of the coal mining operation on moisture movement in the vadose zone and vegetation, this paper presents ...
articleosti6628435, title Appalachia the land of coal, author Schneiderman, S J, abstractNote The Appalachian region of the United States is an area known worldwide for its long history as a source of coal. If any area of the Unted States is to gain from the projected growth of the coal industry, both domestic and international, it would surely be the coal mining areas of this ...
Oct 01, 2018 The main priorities of coal research hotspots refer to precise exploration, deep mining, safe and efficient mining in difficult coal seams, coal washing and quality improvement, coal green mining and environmental protection, intelligent mining and smart mines, and the coordinated mining of coal and associated resources Zhang et al., 2017.
Jul 01, 2003 The concept of green technique in coal mining was proposed. Its connotation and technical system were explained. The theory of the green technique in coal mining is the distribution behaviour of joints, fractures and bed separations, and the seepage flow behaviour of methane and water in the broken rock strata caused by the key strata break after mining.

Coal mining has proven negative impacts on the landscape and health of inhabitants. Solid dust particles and SO2, which are the main polluting substances in coal mining and burning, are the main causes of diseases in areas with intensive coal mining. This contribution deals with areas in the Czech Republic which have the greatest problems in this regard, being North Bohemia Chomutov, Most ...
Jul 29, 2021 The seam mining ratio is proposed for the mining of close-spaced coal seams, and its meaning is the ratio of the thickness of the interlayer rock layer to the mining height of the lower coal seam, that is, h cj M x. When the external staggered layout is adopted, the development of water-transmitting fissures in the overlying rock during the mining process of the shallow-buried and ...

Aug 12, 2021 According to Table 1, during lower coal seam mining, as the mining height of upper coal seam increases, the support resistance and periodic weighting interval increase by 1.8 and 7.6 respectively, whereas they increase by 18.2 and 21.2 with the increase of mining height of lower coal seam. Therefore, mining height of lower coal seam has more obvious effect on the roof weighting.
